what could i use instead of melted chocolate chips?
This recipe calls for melted semi sweet or dark chocolate chips. However, you could easily replace these with something else. There are a lot of sugary options you could choose from, however, to keep it “skinny” here are a few options, with little to no sugar in them.
Here are a few recommendations:
- sugar free chocolate sauce
- cocoa powder
- chocolate protein drink
- chocolate protein powder
- chocolate milk
- hot cocoa powder
We definitely prefer to use a less sugary options such as a chocolate protein mix, but baby steps are a good step. With this milkshake, you really can;t go wrong. It is so thick, creamy, simple, and delicious. You will absolutely love it.

this recipe sounds terrific! I love "skinny" treats that don;t taste skinny

This sounds delicious! If you used a frozen banana it would help thicken it up without using so much ice that could water it down. I always wrap up any over ripe bananas that aren't going to get eaten in saran wrap and keep them in the freezer for smoothies!Melissawww.lovebugliving.com

This recipe sounds delicious, but I'm not sure that it qualifies as "skinny." I appreciate that it uses more natural ingredients, but as written the entire recipe has 850 calories, 33 grams of fat (20 grams saturated), and 90 grams of sugar. Might try using just a tablespoon of chocolate chips and adding some cocoa powder to keep the fat and sugar down.

I bet this would be good with some vanilla almond milk. Add a little protein powder and you got yourself a healthy little smoothie. Great recipe!
