The Orbi Pro WiFi 6 supports virtual local area network (VLAN) management. VLAN management enables you to limit user access by network and create data separation for security.

Your Orbi Pro WiFi 6 offers four pre-defined VLANs; Default (VLAN 1), Employee (VLAN 20), Guest (VLAN 30), and IoT (VLAN 40). The Default VLAN is the only VLAN that can be edited or deleted.

Before you can create, configure, and assign your VLANs, make sure you set up your Orbi Pro WiFi 6. For more information, see How do I set up my Orbi Pro WiFi 6 network using Insight?.

To create a VLAN on your Orbi Pro WiFi 6:

  1. Launch a web browser from a computer that is connected to your Orbi network.
  2. Enter orbilogin.com.

    A login window opens.

  3. Enter the router admin user name and password.

The user name is admin. The password is the one that you specified the first time that you logged in. The user name and password are case-sensitive.

    The BASIC Home page displays.

  4. Select Advanced > Advanced Setup > VLAN/Bridge Settings.
  5. Click Add.
  6. Enter a name and VLAN ID.
  7. To enable or disable Client Isolation and Network Isolation, select the check box.

Client isolation and network isolation are enabled by default.

When network isolation is enabled, clients in this VLAN cannot communicate with clients in other VLANs.

  8. Click Apply.

The system reboots. After the system reboots your settings are saved.

To configure a LAN setup and assign to a VLAN on your Orbi Pro WiFi 6:

  1. Select Advanced > Setup > LAN Setup.
  2. Select the LAN tab for the LAN that is to be edited.
  3. Select the Enable LAN Setup check box.
  4. Select the VLAN Profile drop down box.
  5. Select the VLAN to assign to the LAN setup.

You can also apply IP subnet and DHCP configurations to the VLAN.

  6. Click Apply.

The system reboots. After the system reboots, your settings are saved.

To assign port membership on the VLAN of your Orbi Pro WiFi 6:

By default, all ports are members of VLAN 1.

  1. Select Advanced > Advanced Setup > VLAN/Bridge Settings.
  2. On the port or ports that are to be assigned as members of a VLAN, select their VLAN Profile drop-down menu.
  3. Select a VLAN.

It is only possible to select a VLAN that is assigned to a LAN setup and where the LAN Setup is enabled.

  4. Select the Mode for the port or ports. The port or ports can be configured either as Access port or Trunk port.

Trunk mode is a hybrid mode that supports VLAN-aware devices and non-VLAN-aware devices. Trunk mode is the default mode.

Access mode is used when a VLAN-unaware device is connecting to the port.
  5. Click Apply.

The system reboots. After the system reboots, your settings are saved.

VLANs are now configured and assigned on your Orbi Pro WiFi 6.
